It’s where memories are made! It sounds like a travel slogan, but we believe it to be more fittingly used for the kitchen!
Think about it. The kitchen is the workhorse of the home. It is an important space which is used for so much more than cooking. It is the central hub, where every member of the family will pass through at some point of the day. It’s for homework, for heartache and for the returning hero who has just scored the hat trick at Sunday League Football.
Creating a welcoming space which can accommodate so many activities is no easy task. However as a company offering bespoke kitchens in Surrey, we can help you recognise the space you are working with and maximise the potential.
Island
A kitchen with an island station is generally associated with larger kitchens, so if you have the premium of space, why not go brave with your island choices. Experiment with polished concrete work surfaces, flashes of brave blues or a central cast iron stove contrasted with luxurious carrera marble.
If your kitchen style lends itself to sleek loving minimalism, look away now. Have you ever watched a kooky film, where the kitchen style was somehow…”undone”…but incredibly stylish. The island may not have been the perfect juxtaposition of white marble contrasted with dark cabinetry. Neither was the island complemented by three carefully chosen geometrical chandeliers. No, instead there was a free standing, reclaimed builder’s block island, sitting beneath a range of mismatched copper pans! Eclectic, but effective!
L Shape Kitchen
An L Shaped kitchen is perhaps one of the most popular and practical designs. It typically creates a triangular space which lends itself to a good work flow.
Insiders Tip
When floor space in your kitchen is limited, look up! Tall larders are very much of the moment, so don’t forget to use the height in your room.
An L-Shaped kitchen can also create space for a statement dining table. Ask our kitchen designers for ideas! And if you have tastes bigger than your budget, remember that it always pays to shop around.
Galley Kitchen
The clue is in the name. A galley kitchen is essentially a row of cabinetry. It sounds functional, utilitarian even, but a galley kitchen is the perfect excuse to show off your confident design attitude.
Your kitchen should always reflect your style and with masterpiece metal door cupboards and antique mirror tiles, your galley kitchen will do just that. Bespoke kitchen designers often recommend using glass to open up the space of a galley kitchen, but the newer trend for hammered metal surfaces gives the same effect, but are a lot more chic!
Double Galley
You need to pay particular attention when it comes to double galley kitchens, just to ensure they don’t create a symmetrical corridor effect. Ensure the cabinetry on each side has a different layout and leave gaps for maybe a breakfast bar, if space will allow. Plinth lights can also be a great way to make the space more interesting.
U Shape Kitchen
The U Shape kitchen is a favourite of busy cooks who appreciate easy access to appliances! Depending on the size of the U, you may need to edit what you have within the area. For example does the washing machine really need to be in the kitchen area? Ask our experienced kitchen designers how to use multi level surfaces to naturally create spaces intended for different uses.
